11 Apr 14 – AES has hired Credit Suisse to advise on the sale of its UK onshore wind portfolio, two sources with knowledge of the matter have said. Credit Suisse declined to comment. The sale, first reported by this news service in February, comprises the company’s UK entire wind portfolio, which has a combined installed capacity of 94.5MW. It comprises Berwickshire (28.6MW), Garves Dunloy (15MW), Emberton (14MW), West Linton Farm (20.5MW), and the Land Adjacent Glebe Farm (16.4MW). Eversheds has been hired as the legal adviser for the sale, as previously reported by this news service. Potential buyers include 3i Infrastructure, Blackrock, Brookfield Infrastructure, Greencoat Capital, Mitsubishi, Matsui, Allianz and Aviva, the first source said. Current market conditions suggest that the portfolio is worth from GBP 190m to about GBP 2m for each MW sold, a sector banker estimated. By Giovanni Amodeo and Katie McQue |
